The City of Derby uses a five-year Capital Improvement Plan to direct and prioritize projects such as park improvements. The 2007 budget year provided support for several large maintenance projects such as ball field lighting replacement at Garrett Park, the addition of paved parking at High Park, an additional walking bridge at English Park and the design of a walking path around the Stone Creek Pond.

Additional park maintenance and upgrades are expected for 2008 to provide better ADA access at playgrounds and the installation of new playground structures in three of our community parks.

Cities and neighborhoods, like people, all age. What worked 10 years ago is not necessarily the desires of today’s residents. By looking at where we have come from and what we have to offer, then comparing that with what the community is asking for, we will identify the changes that need to take place for our future.
