Water System ImprovementsAs Derby has grown, so has its need for water. In order to provide the level of water service needed by residents and businesses, the City of Derby undertook significant improvements that will ensure the long-term availability of water in the community. Major improvements to the City’s water distribution system began in 2004 and have led to better service for Derby residents. Those improvements, which include a new water tower near Patriot Ave. and Rock Road, a water metering station near Patriot Ave. and K-15 and new water lines near the eastern and northern edges of town, have done a great deal to improve the water system infrastructure. In 2005 there were major overhauls of the City’s two existing water towers, which are located near Meadowlark & Rock Road and Buckner & Red Powell Drive. These towers were repaired and repainted, improving their appearance and operation. Future improvements will be needed as the City continues its steady growth; those needs will be addressed by the El Paso Water Company’s Board of Directors (Derby City Council) on an as-needed basis.
