Calculating Your Water Bill

Water rates are structured to balance reasonable rates with the need to budget appropriately for the purchase of water and debt service payments to cover system improvements, both current and future. By reviewing rates annually, we are able to ensure that both priorities are observed.

The rate structure is designed to encourage conservation by charging more per gallon to customers who use higher volumes of water.

The City of Derby accepts payment by credit card ( in person and over the phone); online (seek link at right); and through the Auto Pay Plan which automatically deducts your bill from the account of your choice (link at right).

Water Rate Schedule
Effective January 1, 2012

2,000 gallons or less: $13.32 (base rate)

2,001 gallons to 6,000 gallons: $2.66/1,000 gal.

6,001 gallons to 10,000 gallons: $3.04/1,000 gal.

10,001 gallons to 20,000 gallons: $3.49/1,000 gal.

20,001 gallons to 40,000 gallons: $4.05/1,000 gal.

More than 40,000 gallons: $4.71/1,000 gal.
