Community Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers

In August 2007, Kansas Lt. Governor Mark Parkinson initiated an effort to promote volunteerism in the State of Kansas. A statewide website - www.kanserv.org - serves as an outlet for volunteer organizations and volunteers to match opportunities for volunteers and interested volunteers.

On the Kansas Volunteer Commission website, you will find a listing of service opportunities throughout Kansas. This database is searchable by the organization, the type of service, and the county in which the activity takes place.

Derby values volunteerism. The Derby community is built on volunteers who are committed to making Derby a great place to live.

Wineteer Elementary Lunch Buddies
Volunteers will go to the school during the lunch hour (11:00 a.m. to
1:10 p.m.) to visit and eat with the students. Volunteers can stay for one lunch or for all six lunch periods (each grade has its own 20-minute lunch period).

Volunteers need to call the school office at 684-9373 before 8:30 am each time they plan to serve as a Lunch Buddy. Lunch will be provided for a nominal fee of $2.75.
