City of Derby

Public Works & Parks Department

Bill Souder

Streets Division

The Street Maintenance division is responsible for the maintenance of over 252 miles of streets, alleys and other access ways. Also important are the 150 miles of curb and gutter found inside the city limits, along with over 10 miles of hike and bike paths.

Other duties performed by the employees of this division include inspection and maintenance of over 3,000 signs; monitoring of 14 signaled intersections and school crossings; pavement markings; hanging light pole banners; support for community events and snow and ice removal.

Other divisions, such as the Metal Fabrication and Sign and Signal shops, assist Public Works and Parks crews in managing facilities and equipment, as well as providing services to other internal customers, including USD 260 and the Derby Recreation Commission. Their work helps to ensure the usability and safety of the investments we make in equipment, structures and a variety of other facilities.
