Bob Cook Homes Receives Mayor's Award of Excellence
November 22, 2011
The City of Derby is pleased to announce that Bob Cook Homes, LLC is the recipient of the 2011 Mayor’s Award of Excellence. The award was established in 2002 as a way to honor an individual, family, organization, or business that has contributed significantly to the community. The award will be presented to Bob Cook at the December 13 City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Derby City Hall, 611 Mulberry Rd.
This award recognizes Bob Cook Homes for its generous commitment to service for the larger metro-area community. The company served as the primary contractor for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition house built for the Carl Hall family. Mr. Hall was paralyzed following a traffic accident. Bob Cook Homes coordinated the major task of gathering volunteers and donations and constructing a new home to meet the accessibility needs of Mr. Hall in a very short timeframe and under the microscope of a national television show’s production team.
“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition highlighted the generous spirit and sharing nature of Bob Cook and his team of dedicated home builders, subcontractors, and volunteers,” said Mayor Dion Avello. “We are proud to have his business in our community.”
Bob Cook Homes has been in business since 1977 building custom homes around the metro area, and has been a mainstay of the Derby business community since 2006. Bob Cook Homes is a member of the Derby Chamber of Commerce, the Wichita Area Builders Association, and the Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce.
Previous recipients of the Mayor’s Award of Excellence include Larry and Wanda Gould (2002), Ray and Virginia Warren (2003), Charles and Rebah Hubbard (2004), Jack and Dayle Pulley (2005), Peggy Unkel (2006), the Derby Community Foundation (2007), Glen Goering and Ross Hearn (2008), Darrell Butterfield (2009), and Ken and Judy Greteman (2010).
