March 21, 2008
The City of Derby is pleased to announce that on April 7, Stephanie Knebel will begin work as the new Assistant City Manager. The Assistant City Manager directs municipal court services, senior services, and the public information division; manages legislative relations and performance measurement; oversees community programming and two advisory boards; and serves as acting city manager as needed.
Knebel is currently the Manager of Project Services for Sedgwick County, where she manages major facility projects like the Intrust Bank Arena and the National Center for Aviation Training at Jabara Airport, as well as smaller facility remodels and leases. She has been with the County since 1992. Knebel is an active member of the International City/County Management Association and the Kansas Association of City/County Managers.
“I am thrilled about the opportunity to be a part of the Derby community and look forward to working with the professional staff and elected leaders,” said Knebel.
The position was vacated in January by Mandy Wagner, who accepted a position in Topeka with the Kansas Health Policy Authority. More than 50 applications were received. The top five candidates were interviewed on March 7.
The City of Derby is a full-service city focused on creating vibrant neighborhoods, nurturing a strong business community, and preserving beautiful green spaces. The City has 169 FTE employees and an annual operating budget of $25 million, plus an aggressive capital improvement program.
