The Investigations Division is comprised of one Detective Sergeant who is responsible for overall supervision of the section, and four detectives. The section is responsible for the investigation of criminal cases, collection, analysis and preservation of evidence, and filing of criminal charges through district and municipal courts.

The Investigations Division handles approximately 1,800 cases annually. Detectives work closely with the Patrol Division and other agencies such as the District Attorney’s Office, Medical Examiner’s Office, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and other local, state and federal agencies in the course of investigating a variety of cases.

If you have information concerning a crime that has occurred in Derby, you may report it anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Derby, Inc. at 788-TIPS 8477). If the information leads to the arrest of suspects you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
