Hammon Named Deputy Police Chief
September 22, 2010
Mr. Dan Hammon has been selected as the new Deputy Police Chief for the City of Derby. He will assume his duties on November 1, 2010.
“Mr. Hammon was selected from a group of exceptional finalists,” said Derby Police Chief Robert Lee. “He has my full confidence and support as he joins the Derby Police Department management team.”
After a nearly three–month assessment process, which included applicants from across the country, Hammon was selected to replace Deputy Chief Doug Chambers, who will retire in December 2010.
Mr. Hammon is a retired Captain of the Wichita Police Department where he had a distinguished and highly decorated career. Currently he is a member of the faculty at Webster University instructing graduate students, primarily military commanders, in security management at Fort Leavenworth. Mr. Hammon holds both a Bachelor and Master of Business Administration.
Hammon will play a key role in the daily administration and long-term planning of the police department. The Technical Services & Patrol division commanders will report directly to him.
