City of Derby News Release
Free Mulch for Derby Residents
April 22, 2009
The spring and summer months are a busy time for the City of Derby’s Public Works crews. With more than 290 acres of park land to care for, much of their time is dedicated to mowing, edging and maintaining public right-of-way.
One resource the City makes available to residents is the Chip Site at High Park, 2700 E. Madison. The Tiara Pines Homeowner’s Association has plans to use mulch from the Chip Site to maintain a portion of the Rock Road hike & bike path adjacent to their neighborhood. City crews will deliver the mulch, while the residents volunteer their time to beautify their area of the city. If your church, volunteer group, or homeowner’s association is planning a neighborhood improvement project, the City will provide free mulch delivery. Please contact Public Works at 788-0301 for more information.
The City of Derby encourages residents to become active in their community and neighborhoods. Residents may pick up free mulch for their individual home improvement projects during regular operating hours at the Chip Site (7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday). Residents may also drop off tree limbs (no larger than 10 inches in diameter) during regular operating hours.
If you have additional questions, call Public Works at 788-0301.
