Derby Fire & Resuce Receives Grant From FM Global

In March 2008, the Derby Fire & Rescue Department was presented with a $2,500 check from FM Global as part of a national grant program. The funds will go towards the purchase of a mobile data terminal (laptop computer) for one of the Fire & Rescue Department’s responding apparatus.

“We are thankful for businesses such as FM Global who assist emergency responders with grants such as this,” said Derby Fire Chief Brad Smith.
The Fire & Rescue Department will use the laptop computer to assist with setting up Incident Command at emergency scenes and assist with pre-fire planning and storage of information that is needed on emergency scenes. The computer will also be used in the business inspection program, allowing firefighters to enter information immediately.
