East Meadowlark Speed Limit Changing

Attention Derby residents! On Friday, October 14, the speed limit on Meadowlark Boulevard from Rock Road to St. Mary Faith Center will be reduced to 30 mph.
“Recent development in Hamilton Estates and the relocation of St. Mary Catholic School to this site have resulted in more traffic on Meadowlark, making the previous speed limit no longer appropriate,” said Dan Squires, City Engineer.
Reconstruction of the street from Dillons Marketplace to the east city limit is scheduled to begin in February 2012 and will include a bike path on the north and a sidewalk on the south sides of Meadowlark as well as a school crossing. After the project is complete, the speed limit will be reevaluated.
“The City’s purpose is to enhance the safety of the area, especially when students are getting to and from school,” said Squires.
