Detectives Recognized by Police Chief

Derby Police Chief Robert Lee recognized members of the Derby Police Department this week for their outstanding investigative work over the past several months.
“The work of our detectives have led to charges in five felony cases, and the recovery of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property,” said Police Chief Lee. “These detectives have demonstrated the professional skill and diligence expected from members of the Derby Police Department.”
Detectives Tim Nelson and Brandon Russell received the Distinguished Service Award and Letters of Commendation. Sergeant Ken Grommet and Det. Chad Carson received Letters of Commendation. The detectives are being recognized for their efforts related to the investigation of shoplifting cases, sexual assault cases, and storage facility burglaries.
The Distinguished Service Award is awarded to members of the department who promote or improve the law enforcement function within the City of Derby through personal diligence, intelligence, inventiveness, or devotion to duty, or excel in a difficult project, program or situation. The department member must bring favorable recognition to the Derby Police Department through a high degree of initiative and professional accomplishment.
The Letter of Commendation is awarded to members of the department who show exceptional diligence, professionalism, initiative and creativity in the performance of a particular assignment or duty.
