Derby Police Seek Suspect in Armed Robbery

Derby police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at midnight on Friday, September 11 at Sonic, 123 S. Baltimore.
Police are looking for a suspect who is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 18 years of age, 5’3” in height and weighing between 110 and 130 pounds. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a zipper down the front, blue jeans, a blue bandana and blue and white canvas tennis shoes.
Police are trying to obtain a description of a vehicle that was likely used in the robbery. Anyone with information about a suspicious vehicle parked anywhere within a few blocks of Sonic between 11:30 p.m. on Friday and 12:30 a.m. on Saturday is asked to contact Derby police at 788-1557 and provide a description.
Shortly after the close of business on September 11, a lone suspect entered Sonic armed with a handgun and demanded money from the manager. During the course of the robbery, the suspect struck the manager in the head with the gun and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. The manager was treated at a local hospital and released.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Derby police at 788-1557, or call Crime Stoppers of Derby at 788-TIPS (8477). Crime Stoppers tips that lead to an arrest are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 to the person providing the lead. Anyone providing a lead through Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous.
