The new transportation was made possible thanks to a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation (through the Wichita Transit Authority).

The mission of the Derby Dash is to provide safe, accessible and affordable assisted transportation to the elderly and persons with disabilities, as well as all citizens who reside within the city limits of Derby, in order to enhance access to programs, services and activities which will improve their quality of life and help maintain their choice of lifestyle.

It is estimated that the first year’s service of a 16-passenger bus will provide approximately 10,000 rides. Trips will include the local grocery store, banks, post office, medical facilities, Senior Center and other facilities.
