Derby Dash
The Derby Dash, Derby’s local transportation systems, offers affordable local transportation for all those who reside in the Derby city limits. It began operation on April 2, 2007. Hours of Operation Reserve Your Ride Reservations are taken Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Advance notice of at least 24 hours is required. The service area encompasses Derby and covers 8.26 square miles and includes a total population of approximately 20,000. Rates The new transportation was made possible thanks to a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation (through the Wichita Transit Authority). The mission of the Derby Dash is to provide safe, accessible and affordable assisted transportation to the elderly and persons with disabilities, as well as all citizens who reside within the city limits of Derby, in order to enhance access to programs, services and activities which will improve their quality of life and help maintain their choice of lifestyle. It is estimated that the first year’s service of a 16-passenger bus will provide approximately 10,000 rides. Trips will include the local grocery store, banks, post office, medical facilities, Senior Center and other facilities. Questions or comments? Please email webmaster@derbyweb.com. |
