STORAGE UNIT BURGLARIZED
The Derby Police Department is investigating the theft of a large amount of camping gear stolen from a storage unit at 408 N. River St. A large number of tents and camping equipment belonging to the Boy Scouts was stolen between 5 p.m. on June 25 and noon on June 26. Access was gained to the storage unit by cutting the lock hasp.
An adjacent storage unit was entered in a similar manner. A Toro lawn mower and Dulmar weedeater were taken from that unit.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
The Derby Police Department is investigating eight residential burglaries that occurred between April 6 and May 6 in the 1400 block of Wagon Wheel Ct, 1200 block of Armstrong Ct., 2000 block of Burning Tree, 500 block of Pecan, 800 block of Goeldner, 100 block of N. Brook Forest, 1300 block of Armstrong, and 1500 block of Cresthill. Items taken include a dirt bike, purse, laptop computer, digital camera, and handguns.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
Derby Police are investigating seven residential burglaries that appear to be related based on the types of property taken and methods used by the burglars. In each of these burglaries, which took place during April 2010, the unidentified suspect(s) entered the home through a window or garage door. Property taken includes electronic games, sound equipment, DVD's, and in one case, a small motorcycle.
Police need your help with identifying the person(s) responsible for these burglaries. Also, please reporting suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighborhood.Â
AUDIO EQUIPMENT STOLEN
An estimated $49,000 of sound equipment was stolen between 2 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, February 16.
The equipment was reported stolen from a yellow box truck that was parked in the street in the 1200 block of N. Westview Dr. Stolen items include amplifiers, microphones, tuners, and speakers.
Anyone who has information that may be related to this theft is asked to call the Derby Police Department Detective Section at 316-788-1557.

RESIDENTIAL ROBBERIES
The Derby Police Department is investigating four residential burglaries that occurred in the morning hours on Sunday, October 25 and Monday, October 26. The burglaries occurred in the 1300 block of Prairie Lane, 1700 block of N. Woodlawn and the 1400 block of E. Kay Street.
Two burglaries occurred on each date. In three of the four cases, police believe the suspect(s) waited for the homeowners to leave before breaking in to the residence. In one case, a witness reported seeing a male, 19 to 20 years of age, breaking into the home.
Stolen items include televisions, electronics, jewelry, firearms and a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer.
ARMED ROBBERY AT PRESTO CONVENIENCE STORE
Derby Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 9:20 pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2009 at Presto, 230 S. Baltimore Ave.
The suspects are two white males, approximately 25 years of age, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with dark brown or black hair (one suspect may have also had some gray in his hair), and wearing dark colors including dark colored hooded sweatshirts
The entered the store and approached the counter. They demanded money from clerk. One suspect pulled out a black handled folding or pocket knife. During the robbery both suspects took the money from the register and fled the business out the front door and ran southeast of the business.
ARMED ROBBERY AT SONIC
Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at midnight, Friday, September 11 at Sonic, 123 S. Baltimore.
Shortly after the business closed, a lone suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money from the manager. During the course of the robbery, the suspect struck the manager in the head with the gun and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police need help in identifying the suspect: Hispanic male, approximately 18 years old, 5’3” tall, weighing 110-130 pounds. He was wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a blue bandana and blue and white canvas tennis shoes. He was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.
Police are also interested in obtaining descriptions of any suspicious vehicles that may have been seen parked in or near the area around the time of the robbery.
ST MARY'S CHURCH BURGLARIZED, VANDALIZED
Sometime between 9 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2009 and 7:30 a.m. on Monday, February 23, 2009, unknown person(s) entered into St. Mary's Faith Center at 2300 E. Meadowlark and ransacked the building.
A significant amount of damage was sustained to doors and glass inside the building. Miscellaneous property has been reported missing from the church following this incident.

GOLF CART FROM DERBY HIGH SCHOOL STOLEN AND BURNED
On Saturday January 24, 2009, Derby Fire & Rescue responded to a fire on the fishing pier at High Park. Upon arrival it was discovered the Derby High School golf cart used by security had been stolen from the school, taken to High Park and set on fire. BOB CAT STOLEN FROM HAMPTON INN CONSTRUCTION SITE
Between December 31, 2008 and January 2, 2009, a 2002 Bobcat model 873 loader, a black 20-foot double axle trailer and various lumber was stolen from the construction site of the new Hampton Inn located between Tall Tree and Patriot Ave. on Rock Road.       Â
GRAVES VANDALIZED AT EL PASO CEMETERY
Between October 16 and November 24, 2008, El Paso Cemetery reported that 42 headstones had been pushed over. Some headstones were damaged in the process, causing an estimated loss of over $6,000.
HIGH PARK CONCESSION STAND BURGLARIZED
Between 3:00 p.m. on July 27 and 7:30 a.m. on July 28 the concession stand at High Park, 2700 E. Madison, was burglarized. Items taken include hotdogs, pretzels, icee tubes and minute maid tubes.
GARRETT PARK VANDALIZED
During the late night hours of July 19 and early morning hours of July 20, Garrett Park was vandalized and burglarized. Person(s) vandalized the restroom, press box and fences, and burglarized the concession stand. Crime Stoppers will give a cash reward of up to $1,000 to any tips that lead to an arrest in this case.
SPRAY PAINT VANDALISM
During mid-April there have been several cases of spray painting of public buildings, including El Paso Elementary, Derby Hills Elementary, the restrooms at English Park, and fences behind the 800 block ofBrookforest. The person(s) are using green and black spray paint. They have painted a side view of a face with teeth, comments like “Free Art Movement” or “Catch me if you can.”
VEHICLES BURGLARIZED
Between 7:30 p.m. on March 14 and 11:00 a.m. on March 15, a Cox cable company truck in the 1200 block of north Westview, had a window broken out. Items stolen from the vehicle included two pieces of cable test equipment was stolen, valued at more than $40,000. The same night two other vehicles were broken into in the north and northeast parts of town.
CREDIT UNION OF AMERICA BURGLARY
A reward of $1,000 will be paid for information that leads to the arrest of those involved with the burglary of the Credit Union of America at 620 N. Baltimore. The burglary occurred between the close of business on January 31, 2008 and open of business on February 1, 2008.
PHONE SCAM TARGETS THREE DERBY RESIDENTS
A reward of up to $1,000 will be paid for information the recent phone scam crimes. Since January 27, 2008, three individuals in the Derby area have reported that they had been contacted with a phone scam. The callers appear to be targeting the senior population.
In two of the three cases the caller knew the name of the grandchild. During the other call they started out saying “hello Grandma” and waited for a name.
The individuals are calling from the Kansas City area and are stating that they were in Kansas City and either lost or had their wallet stolen along with all of their money, credit cards and Drivers License. They are asking that the victim wire them anywhere from $400 to $600 dollars.
