City Donates Art to Derby Tag Office
September 30, 2010
The City of Derby donated two pieces of artwork by local artists to the Sedgwick County Tag office in Derby. Sedgwick County Treasurer Ron Estes received the artwork from Derby Mayor Dion Avello on Thursday, September 30.
“Derby is pleased to have this Sedgwick County office located in our community,” said Mayor Avello. “It provides a convenient service, and we just wanted to decorate the walls with some scenes from Derby.”
One piece features the gazebo at High Park. The print is an original painting by Derby resident Shirley Carrick. The print is available for purchase for $20 through the Derby Community Foundation, 788-9815.
The second piece is the popular Derby sunflower and water tower painting by Dr. William Durnil. Durnil was a long-time Derby resident, talented artist, and chiropractor.
Derby’s tag office, located at 236 W. Greenway, is open Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The south office serves as a convenient location for residents in Derby, Mulvane, Haysville, and south Wichita.
