City of Derby News Release
City Board Seeking Input on Neighborhood Parks
January 9, 2009
From now through April 2009, the Parks & Urban Forestry Board will be seeking input from residents on their neighborhood parks through a series of town hall meetings.
This input process is a follow-up to the Parks Master Plan that was adopted by the City Council in September 2008. Parks & Urban Forestry Board members will take public comment and then compile the information to guide the specific projects slated for each park.
The first town hall meeting is scheduled for January 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the El Paso Elementary School Library, 900 E. Crestway. Please use the main entrance. The Parks & Urban Forestry Board would like to hear feedback from residents that generally use or live around Crane and English Parks. Questions include:
- Do you use the park?
- What do you like or dislike about the park?
- How could the park be improved?
- Do you have any other concerns about parks in general?
Three more town hall meetings have been scheduled, each one focusing on a different park. The meetings will follow a similar format and will be held on the following dates:
- February 19 at 6:30 p.m., Derby Hills Elementary Library, focusing on Duck Creek Park
- March 19 at 6:30 p.m., Derby Recreation Center, focusing on Riley Park
- April 16 at 6:30 p.m., Swaney Elementary Commons, focusing on Hand Park
Public input is a vital part of the City’s planning process and is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to attend a public meeting, but would like to provide input about the parks, please contact Tamie Snow, Public Works Coordinator, via email or by calling 788-0301.
