Building Inspections and Code Enforcement are responsible for review of all residential and commercial building plans and all on-site inspections to assure compliance with all codes and policies.

This division is also responsible for enforcement of the city's zoning ordinance, flood plain ordinance, and nuisance ordinances. Major accomplishments include inspection of Kohl's department store, Tokyo Steakhouse, Target and other smaller businesses.

In order to assist both residential and commercial builders, the City Code is available below along with a link to local amendments made to building codes in 2008.
