Public Meeting Scheduled for Buckner Reconstruction Project

A public meeting for the Buckner Street Reconstruction Project is set for Thursday, March 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 611 Mulberry Rd. This will be an open-house type of meeting where several options for Buckner will be presented at stations around the room. Residents can come and go, review each option and ask questions.
The Buckner Street Reconstruction Project is more complex than just rebuilding the street with new asphalt. The neighborhood is unique in that there are residential properties on the east side of Buckner, and commercial properties comprise the west side. Street reconstruction was attempted around 10 years ago, but then cancelled due to the inability to gain consensus on how the area would be modified to meet the needs of residents, motorists and businesses.
