Automatic External Defibrillators (AED)

What You Should Know:

- Any person using an AED in good faith is held harmless from legal action regardless of training.

- Any entity, business, or organization that provides an AED for public use is held harmless for use by non-public safety personnel.

- Entities or persons who provide an AED for public use must develop, implement, and follow guidelines to ensure proper maintenance and operation of the AED.

- Entities or persons who acquire an AED for public use are required to notify their local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) of the address and location of their AED(s) using a form provided by the Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services. (Kansas Board of EMS Form)
