Celebrate Trees at the Derby Arbor Day Celebration
April 1, 2010

2010 Arbor Day CelebrationYou’re invited to the annual City of Derby Arbor Day Celebration Thursday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m. This fun, free event designed for the entire family will be held at the High Park enclosed shelter, 2700 E. Madison.

The Arbor Day Celebration will include:

  • Healthy lawn presentation by Dr. Jason Griffin, Parks & Urban Forestry Board Member.
  • Planting of the Arbor Day tree.
  • Appearance by Sprig the Squirrel.
  • Moonwalk, cotton candy, popcorn, and sno cones provided by the Derby Optimist Club.
  • Lollipop tree, miniature golf putting, balloons, temporary tattoos, and a bean bag toss provided by the City of Derby
  • Free refreshments and flower seed packets also provided by the City of Derby.

Derby has been recognized as a Tree City USA recipient for 17 consecutive years. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

This event is being organized by the City of Derby and the Derby Parks & Urban Forestry Board.
