City of Derby News Release

City Accepting ACE Grant Proposals Through February 24
January 26, 2012

The Artistic, Cultural, and Entertainment (ACE) Grant is a grant program offered by the City of Derby to encourage diversity in Derby’s entertainment, artistic, and cultural offerings. ACE grants assist programs and events that contribute to Derby’s quality of life by drawing people to the community for activities and events.

Grant proposals will be accepted through February 24, 2012. For more information, including program guidelines and a grant application, visit the ACE Grant web page. All proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee and awards approved by the City Council.

Grant program guidelines were revised this year. Here is an overview of some of the changes:

  • Increased maximum amount that can be awarded from $2,500 to $3,000 per application.
  • Expanded eligibility so that applications could be submitted to financially partner in the purchase of equipment to be used at community events or programs (i.e. sound system, chairs, movie screen, etc.).
  • Organizations without 501(c)(3) status may explore partnership ideas with the Derby Community Foundation as an alternative way to meet ACE Grant program requirements.
  • Statement now required from applicants that there is separation between members of the board of directors and the purchasing of goods and services for the event.
