Celebrate Independence Day in Derby

Independence Day in Derby will be a fun, family affair for all ages. Learn more about what’s going on in Derby on July 4.

Walk/Run
Start your day with the 36th Annual Firecracker Run at High Park, 2801 E. James. The 4-mile walk/run begins at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 1-mile walk/run at 8:30 a.m.

Parade
Grab your lawn chairs for the Independence Day Parade at 10 a.m. The parade begins at Panther Stadium (just east of Madison & Woodlawn), proceeds west on Madison to Georgie, south on Georgie to Market, east on Market back to the middle school. The parade is sponsored by Derby’s VFW Post 7253 and American Legion Post 408. To enter the parade, contact Chelsea Lowery at 409-4209 or Clee0076@gmail.com.

Party in the Park
Party in the Park – A 4th of July Celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Madison Avenue Central Park, 512 E. Madison Ave. It will include food trucks, face painting, a photo booth, airplanes, T-shirts, duck pond with prizes and more. Sponsored by Panther Professionals.

Museum
After the parade, visit the Derby Historical Museum, which will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The museum is located on the northwest corner of Woodlawn and Market. Admission is free, donations are welcome.

Baseball
After an afternoon rest (or swim at Rock River Rapids), gear up for the Derby Twins Baseball vs. Haysville Aviators game at 7 p.m. at Panther Field, Woodlawn & Market. The game is sponsored by the City of Derby.

Fireworks & More
Round out your day at the City of Derby’s Independence Day Celebration beginning at 7 p.m. at High Park. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Enjoy food trucks and fun, family games.

Parking Information

Due to construction, there will be no entry to the park from Madison Ave. All traffic must enter at James St. ADA parking will be available at the Darrell Zimmerman Family Shelter. Parking available in the paved lots until they are full. At that time the north park entrance will close to traffic except for ADA vehicles. Four shuttles will run from Derby High school parking lot (James St. entrance) from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Feel free to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Please do not bring fireworks to the park.
